The Doctor's Home Office

Welcome to the Homepage of DrShell

First, thanks for visiting my site.

About Me: I'm a simple person with simple needs. I found at an early age (pre HS) I had an aptitude for applications of logic. And, in my early years of High School, I began learning computer languages. I found my calling in the Navy's Data Processing tech rate, where I started working with Univac systems (1106/1108/1110). One of these systems had available the University of Maryland's Basic games package, which included a Star Trek game played in ASCII on dumb terminals...(remember when Klingons were huge enemies of the UFP?). I've since developed my "programming" skills with scripting in dozens of languages, writing interfaces, conversion routines, human interfaces and cross-platform translators. I've designed large software systems, managed and maintained software systems that processed millions of dollars in transactions per day, worked for names like The Small Business Administration, the Social Security Administration, Department of the Navy, General Motors Corporation, Continential Airlines, and Electronic Data Systems Corp. And, in my last interest, I designed the processes for, authored the Embodiment of a patent for, and created the Visual Basic program that demonstrates, a secure data transfer method for the internet.

I'm in my 50's now and find myself out of "steady" work, after having enjoyed (in the last 5+ years) developing a patent, plans and code for a VB6 application using high level cryptography (See below). Now, with mostly UNISYS/COBOL experience on my resume, yet additional skills with (Honeywell, Burroughs, IBM, and Microsoft) operating systems, both mainframe and micro systems, and many different development environments since the mid 1980's, I find myself unable to find work.

Well, if you're here to hire me for a project/assignment, check out my background here

I recently completed a project for a local company attempting to create a secure point-to-point transport process over the internet, without using public key servers. In the development of this process I used a public domain example of interfacing with the Microsoft crypto provider in a VB class module. And, after rewriting it for simplicity and general use, I now have a class module (Right click and select "Save Target as...") that I wish to share back to the public domain. Or, you may be interested in a VB6 project for incorporating Licensing into your applications. License Generator. I also have a website where I have a number of programs available for download here.

FOR SALE: I have a number of antiques and collectibles up for sale, due both to a need to lighten up and to make a little money. I've also taken to Woodworking and have a number of projects on the bench. Take a look and let me know if you find something you must have or, give me an idea of what you want and maybe I can produce it for you.
